Tableau Vivant

So what has been keeping me busy?
The next Tableau Vivant :)

I work for Sarah Small the photographer, visionary and all around amazing artist.  If you haven't seen her images you should check out www.sarahsmall.com (your truly is in one of the photos if you look closely.  Shorter hair and a lot more cushion, but I'm there).

Sarah has been creating and putting out mini-Tableau performances for a while now and all of them have been a preview of what promises to be an amazing event.

120 models, a huge space, multiple musical groups etc. and two very special events (A bit of a surprise, I'll share later).

So I've been running errands, getting catering for the three days of rehearsal and performance, sending out invitations to important people....etc. etc.

Basically all of my free time has been swallowed up by this project - which I am more than happy to report.  The performances have been moving to say the least and it is an honor to participate in something so moving and beautiful.  The final performance promises to be well worth all of the hard work that so many have put in to make this project happen.

Please check out the link and keep in mind that tickets will be available soon if you care to attend the amazing event.

Photos of my own will be up soon, but things are on hold for a moment while I work on some other fantastic art.

Best and more soon,

Alexandrea

Some Old Favorites

As any photographer will attest, we tend to have a lot of photographs squirreled away on many a hard drive.   And at least I have a tendency to shoot a lot and then sometimes not go back and look at the things that I shot for personal use or fine art.  Which isn't always bad as it turns out.  It is kind of like having a little treasure box that you open up every once and a while and find all sorts of lovely shiny things :)

Here are a few old favorites that I shot at some point in the past and have recently fell in love with again (or I just thought they looked pretty cool).

Hope you enjoy!

My first Wedding Shoot in NYC

Working with the talented Daniel Krieger was quite an introduction to the wedding photography scene in NYC.
What a beautiful wedding it was too.  The space alight with the glow of the West Side.  The happy (and exceptionally nice) bride and groom visiting with their international family members.

A fabulous night all around.  Photos to come soon - for now some sleep.

New York Time Out Magazine Featured My Photographs!

I submitted a few photos at the suggestion of a friend to New York Time Out Magazine Online and they decided to use all three of them :)

Some exposure (pun intended) never hurt anyone I suppose.

It was a nice surprise and hopefully some people liked my take on NYC.

Follow the link to see the photos they picked (please also keep in mind that the crop is all them...they are not the way I shot them).

The past few...months :)

Hello everyone,

So sorry I have been away and haven't posted in Forever!

What has been keeping me away?  Well to be honest, life.

Things have changed a lot for me this year.  Career changes, life changes and a lot of personal growth.  All good, but lots to keep up with.

My last post was on Event Photography and since then I have done quite a lot of it.
Here are some of the images I captured at some of NYC's hottest clubs :)

Now that my club photography days have come to an end (not a sad thing I assure you, but a GREAT experience overall) I am doing some product photography, which is a welcome first for me.
Other than that, I am of course still working on my favorite type of photography - Portraits.
I adore the challenge of capturing the best of someone's personality.  All the ins and outs of themselves that they are willing (and sometimes surprised to see) to share on film.

More images soon I promise!

Event Photography and Mehanata Club LES NYC

Recently I have decided that being an event photographer is a large part of my calling in life.  I adore being out in the crowd and more than just being a participant in the party, I love capturing the images created when people get together to have a good time.

In an effort to beef up my event portfolio and also to grab some great images of my good friends, I went to Mehanata in the LES last night.

They were having a costume Russian bash - perfect for fabulous photos!
The music as always was wonderful.   All the happy dancers and drinkers turned out in their best USSR gear and the party all in all was a great success.

Here are some images from the evening.  These are some of my favorite - highlights if you will from the night.  If you want to see more (or want to make sure I got your cute face in a photo) please check out the complete set on my AT Photography page on Facebook.

Record Runner...Boys fighting for the best 12inch

I had a dream...and in it two of my friends were fighting over records, in a room full of records.

After thinking about this idea for a few days I finally decided it would make good photo shoot.  Though my set up here at the house was not ideal for the shoot, I think what I got was pretty good considering.

After getting the shots I had dreamed up, we did some portrait shots for my friends.  I put a couple of them up here as well.

Thanks to my boyfriend who kindly let me use all of his old records for the project!  He is awesome :)

Enjoy!

Before cleaning up the mess I had made I decided to take a few photos of my love.
This one is golden if you ask me :)
Hipster kid who finds peace in a room of music - or at least that is what I was going for :)
